Timber and soul.
The cottage resort’s most important resources.
Quality and appreciation that you can touch, feel and smell.
All chalets are built with natural materials. Centuries old wood from Tirol is used, lending a unique and special flair to our cottages. The history of the wood is palpable. Original, genuine, authentic. Wood is a very special raw material. Energy-saving, sustainable, climate-friendly. All that nature needs to produce wood are the four elements - sun, earth, air and water. Other building materials require enormous energy input during production, processing and transport. Wood, however, grows at our doorstep.
Every second, forests in Austria produce roughly one cubic meter of wood, with almost half of Austria covered by forests. The wood keeps getting more, as less than two thirds of regrowth is harvested. The rest increases our stock of wood. Thus wood will continue to be a sustainable material even for coming generations.
Sustainability rating: Very good!
Wood absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere, is an abundant and renewable resource and one of the oldest building materials there are. Lots of wood used in construction thus means: lots of absorbed carbon, slowed emissions and lots of CO2 saved! And when wood is burnt or left to decompose in the forest in the form of forest residues, it also reacts neutrally. That means it does not emit more into the atmosphere than it previously extracted from it. Altogether, it thus reacts CO2-neutrally.
All our chalets are heated by central pellet-heating. This type of heating using wood pellets is a significant contribution to climate protection. And the way we do things for us and our guests – naturally, healthy, genuinely, sustainably – is the way we want it for us and our guests. Enjoy the unequalled atmosphere in our nature chalets by the sunny Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis plateau!
